GOLD(III) CHLORIDE

Product Usage : Gold chloride is used in organic chemists as a mild acid catalyst for a variety of reactions. Gold(III) salts, especially Na[AuCl4], provide an alternative to mercury(II) salts as catalysts for reactions involving alkynes. An illustrative reaction is the hydration of terminal alkynes to produce acetyl compounds. Gold chloride may be used to prepare gold cages which may be potentially useful in surface plasmonics , surface plasmonics , surface- enhanced Raman spectroscopy, drug delivery, contrast-enhanced optical imaging and photothermal therapy.
